Valetparking - The Rivalti (Live @ Magnet Katipunan 10/6/2008)
Valetparking - Comedia (Live @ "The Sobrang Gudnite Show with Jojo A. on QTV 11)
Sometime in 2002, this then "nameless" band was founded by JAPO Anareta & "BUTOY" during their 1st year in college. Shortly, GREG Lamanilao , DAX Balmeo, and KENMAR Vibar joined the group. They started playing "half-baked" cover songs (They were not "serious" back then) ranging from Rivermaya to Guns & Roses.
A few months passed, the band decided to take their so-called "career" seriously. They started writing their own material and rehearsing as a real ticking band. Eventually, KENMAR left the four, thus sealing the fate of their old "rag-tag band" format. Valetparking officially became a "band" after an indie recording session on September 11, 2003 at GREG’s flat.
From that point onward, Valetparking started playing for Campus-sponsored gigs, Bar Shows, Early Morning TV Programs and even for Local Late Night Talk Shows. The band also fronted for some of the biggest names in the Local Rock Scene (ex. RIVERMAYA, PUPIL, SANDWICH, IMAGO, JOINTHECLUB, THE PIN-UP GIRLS to name a few.). Their biggest gig to date is their appearance on National TV on QTV Channel 11's Late Night Comedy Talk Show: "THE SOBRANG GUDNITE SHOW w/ JOJO A."
A few years into their "career", the band went back to the drawing board to develop and upgrade their craft (so what you hear/see on these videos/demos are quite obsolete). They began shifting their music from their early "plain-jane" style into a more "mature" sound.
During the early months of 2008, their lead guitarist (Butoy) left the band temporarily to focus on his day job. The trio continued to play gigs around the metro. They again developed their sound into a more "solid, in-your-face" kind of tone.
On September 11, 2008, Valetparking celebrated its 5th Year Anniversary at 6Underground Ortigas. They shared the stage with some of the metro's top indie bands. The anniversary seemed to be a reunion because their lead guitarist is back (with a vengeance).
Last February 8, Valetparking made "history" as YouTube's very own AKOSICHRISTV (an American famous for singing his own version of Tagalog Songs - called jOePM) made a rendition of the band's old song Kinabukasan. This is a huge honor for the band because their song transcended the language barrier and was able to connect to a friend from across the globe.
AKOSICHRIS Performing his own version of our song Kinabukasan:
After 6 years and more than a hundred gigs (yes, "more than a hundred gigs"), they're still alive and very much "kicking".
Stay tuned as they dish out their new and improved material in the coming months ahead.
